THE 10 COMMANDMENTS
1. Lead singer does not mean group leader! There is more to a band than vocals, just as Benji and Joel do not Good Charlotte Make.
2. No band member can intimidate another band member. If you do, you’re out. We will not put up with bullies.
3. There will be no drugs, alcohol or any such fun thing of that sort before a show, practice, performance, or appearance. The mind should be focused on the music not on the pretty colors. So we partiers must save the partying for AFTER.
4. If you have done any partying beforehand, you will NOT DRIVE ANYWHERE and you may be replaced for the show. You are not the only musician in the world.
5. If there is a problem with anything or anyone, bring it up. These things should be discussed, not hidden.
6. Traveling anywhere, we take turns driving and we ALL contribute to the gas, food, and lodging fund.
7. If you have the opportunity to help another musician, DO IT!
8. If we have the opportunity to travel outside the U.S, obey that countries laws because we’d expect hem to do the same in ours. And it’s just not fun getting arrested in a foreign language (especially German…it always sounds like they want to kill you).
9. Thou shalt not fight with other bands (unless it’s Hilary Duff or some other !@#$ like that). This is MUSIC and we’re in it together.
10. The band is a family. You treat your band mates better than your family treated you and you will get the same treatment back. We are THERE for each other and we TAKE CARE OFF each other. We do not ABANDON one another.
''I didn't think it was possible to do what I do for a living when I became aware of music as a child,'' Harper says. ''I knew I heard something in the voices of the songwriters that I liked; that really pulled at me. I knew that I liked it and wanted to try it, but I had no consciousness of playing for a living.''-Ben Harper
"I think I should have no other mortal wants, if I could always have plenty of music. It seems to infuse strength into my limbs and ideas into my brain. Life seems to go on without effort, when I am filled with music. " -George Elliot
If a music is a religon, why shouldn't a band have a ten commandements, a code of rule for behavior? If Guns N' Roses had had one, would there been as many pissed of fans when Axl walked of stage? No. He wouldn't even had done that. To insult your fans is to insult your music. Without a fan, there would be no continuation of the wonderful art that is music.
In a band, the other members are you family. If you were treated badly by the family you were born into, why wouldn't you want to treat the one you created for yourself 500 times better than how you were treated? Music itself is a family, and every musician a brother and sister. Unless, of course, it's Hilary Duff or other pop 'music', then that's the evil step-mother deserving to be destroyed by the true Cinderella.
